David Wilson’s 2013 Value Rises

Who said there’s an offseason in fantasy football?

The first big move has happened just a few days after the Super Bowl, as the New York Giants have released veteran running back Ahmad Bradshaw. The move opens the door for second-year runner David Wilson to make an impact in fantasy land next season.

Wilson showed flashes of potential as a rookie, averaging a solid 5.0 yards per carry while also scoring five total touchdowns. His biggest game came against the New Orleans Saints in Week 14, when he rushed for 100 yards and scored a combined three touchdowns. The Virginia Tech product will have to improve on his pass protection if he wants to be a true three-down back, but the potential for him to produce in New York makes him a No. 2 fantasy back with upside in 2013.

The G-Men are now more likely to retain the services of restricted free agent Andre Brown, who was having his best season as a pro before breaking his leg in Week 12. He’ll serve as a compliment to Wilson, and could vulture goal-line work out of the backfield. He figures to be a viable late-round pick and handcuff for owners who land Wilson.

As for Bradshaw, he shouldn’t have a hard time finding work as long as he has no setbacks in his return from a recent surgical procedure on his right foot. He has had the foot operated on at least three times, so he’ll be a bit of a risk regardless of where he lands.

The Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and New York Jets, among other teams, could all be in the market for a runner this offseason.

Tim Tebow Jets (NY JETS) New York Jets Tebowmania

Tebowmania is on this season… Tim Tebow led the Broncos to the playoffs last season along the way beating Sanchez and the Jets, who missed the postseason. But Denver executive John Elway believed Manning gave the team a better chance at winning a championship now. Just another crazy day for the New York Jets. Hours after the Jets announced they had agreed in principle to acquire Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos, ESPN reported that the deal hit a snag. Citing anonymous sources, ESPN says Wednesday that provisions in the quarterback’s contract are causing complications in the completion of the trade. ESPN says Tebow’s contract has million worth of recapture language, which means the Jets would have to pay back some money to the Broncos. The hang-up came hours after the Jets declared they were bringing the polarizing quarterback to New York as a complement to starter Mark Sanchez. Denver general manager Brian Xanders said the Broncos would receive fourth- and sixth-round draft picks, while New York would get a seventh-rounder all in 2012. It’s just another bizarre moment for the Jets, a team that has had its share of them over the years, conjuring memories of Bill Belichick’s hiring as coach and his resignation one day later. The Jets would have lots of explaining to do no matter whether the deal goes through or falls apart. As part of Tebow’s .25 million, five-year contract he signed as a rookie in 2010, he had a .277 million advance due 29 days after the start
