Timothy Richard "Tim" Tebow (pron.: //; born August 14, 1987) is an American football quarterback for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Florida, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007 and appearing on BCS National Championship-winning teams in the 2006 and 2008 seasons. After graduating, he was drafted by the Denver Broncos as the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He is a dual threat quarterback, adept at both rushing and passing. Many football players and observers have said that they "have never seen anything like" his unorthodox quarterback skills and frequent demonstrations of religious devotion.
Tebow played quarterback for Allen D. Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and was ranked among the top quarterback prospects in the nation as a high school senior. He chose to attend the University of Florida, where he played for the Florida Gators football team. As a backup and situational quarterback, Tebow helped the Gators win the national championship during the2006 college football season. Tebow was the Gators' starting quarterback during the 2007 season when he became the first college sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy.
In 2008, Tebow led Florida to a 13–1 record and its second national championship in three years, and was named the offensive MVP of the national championship game. The Gators again went 13–1 in 2009, his senior year. At the conclusion of his college career, he held the Southeastern Conference's all-time records in both career passing efficiency and total rushing touchdowns, appearing second and tenth (respectively) in the NCAA record book in these categories. He was selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. He started the last three games ofhis rookie season and became the Broncos' full-time starting quarterback beginning in the 6th game of 2011. The team was 1–4 before he became the starter but began winning with him on the field, often coming from behind late in the 4th quarter until they won their first AFC West title and first playoff game since 2005, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime. Denver was subsequently eliminated from playoff contention a week later by the New England Patriots. Despite his successes, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets during the offseason after the Broncos aggressively pursued and acquired free agent quarterback Peyton Manning.

www.nma.tv Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets by the Denver Broncos. The news comes just one day after Peyton Manning signed with the Denver Broncos. Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer broke the story on Wednesday on Twitter. The Jets traded their fourth- and sixth-round drafts picks in exchange for the young, polarizing quarterback from the University of Florida. The proposed deal brings into question Mark Sanchez’s role as the team’s starting quarterback. The Jets extended his contract less than two weeks ago, quelling rumors that the front office was looking to can the inconsistent Sanchez in favor of Manning. But with Tebow coming to town, talk of a New York quarterback controversy have been renewed. Some analysts actually see the two field generals coexisting. Tebow excels at running the ball and could be utilized in Tony Sparano’s wildcat formations.

Tebowmania is on this season… Tim Tebow led the Broncos to the playoffs last season along the way beating Sanchez and the Jets, who missed the postseason. But Denver executive John Elway believed Manning gave the team a better chance at winning a championship now. Just another crazy day for the New York Jets. Hours after the Jets announced they had agreed in principle to acquire Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos, ESPN reported that the deal hit a snag. Citing anonymous sources, ESPN says Wednesday that provisions in the quarterback’s contract are causing complications in the completion of the trade. ESPN says Tebow’s contract has million worth of recapture language, which means the Jets would have to pay back some money to the Broncos. The hang-up came hours after the Jets declared they were bringing the polarizing quarterback to New York as a complement to starter Mark Sanchez. Denver general manager Brian Xanders said the Broncos would receive fourth- and sixth-round draft picks, while New York would get a seventh-rounder all in 2012. It’s just another bizarre moment for the Jets, a team that has had its share of them over the years, conjuring memories of Bill Belichick’s hiring as coach and his resignation one day later. The Jets would have lots of explaining to do no matter whether the deal goes through or falls apart. As part of Tebow’s .25 million, five-year contract he signed as a rookie in 2010, he had a .277 million advance due 29 days after the start …

How will Tim Tebow change the Jets? Let the Numbers explain… ***TRIVIA: Joe Namath started every Jets game for 4-straight years when the NFL played 14-game seasons. He never had the chance to start during 16-game seasons like Mark Sanchez, who has done it the past 2 years. No Jets QB has done it for 16 games in 3-straight seasons. Will Tebow spoil that for Sanchez?
